Volunteers Make a Difference

Lennon Equine Therapy Volunteers are essential to the success of our programs. Our experiential equine healing programs encourages self discovery, mindfulness, and confidence building in our clients. As the positive experiences with the horses accumulates, it is our intention that the joy and hopefulness transfers into other areas of our client’s lives.

Requirements for All Volunteers

  • Dependability and punctuality
  • Communication Skills
  • Ability to travel to our facility at least once a week
  • Minimum six-month commitment
  • Experience working with people with disabilities is preferred, but not required

Our volunteers are a pivotal part of our team, helping to provide experiential equine healing programs to our clients. These volunteers assist students in fetching, grooming, tacking and mounting horses. During mounted riding, they may be leading or side walking.

Volunteers must commit to volunteering 1-2 days per month for a minimum of 4.5 hours. Our program runs from 9:00-1:30pm on Sundays. For our sessions to run smoothly, we ask that all volunteers arrive no later than 8:45am for scheduled sessions. Because our clients rely on having a full team to support their riding sessions, it is imperative that volunteers be punctual and reliable.

There is a mandatory training session offered to new volunteers before their first volunteer session. This training session provides an orientation to our houses, students, equipment, rules, and procedures.

Lennon Equine Therapy offers riding experiences at no charge to the participants.

Our programs exists solely on the support of people like you.
